Pet-Resistant Screen
Standard pool cage and lanai screen mesh is not designed for the repeated physical stress that pets create — claws catching in the mesh, dogs jumping at the screen, and the cumulative abrasion of daily contact all degrade standard screen significantly faster than normal aging. Pet-resistant screen uses a heavier-gauge, vinyl-coated mesh (typically 17x20 or PetMesh-style weave) that withstands clawing and pressure much more effectively than standard fiberglass or aluminum mesh. It's still a screen mesh — it allows airflow and visibility — but it has substantially higher puncture and tear resistance. For households with dogs or cats that spend time in the screened area, upgrading to pet-resistant mesh can significantly reduce the frequency of screen repairs and replacements. Installation follows standard rescreening procedures, and pet-resistant mesh can be installed in specific panels (door panels and lower courses, where most pet contact occurs) or throughout the full enclosure.
